I needed a break from studying for finals, and decided to go to the local museum. Luckily for me, living in New York gives me a slew of options! However, I chose the Metropolitan Museum of Art (Obviously before I went I checkout the MET Museum Guide). The Met is a must-go for tourists and residents alike! The museum has a suggested price for tickets, but for those of us who are, shall we say, not very financially endowed, you can enter the museum for a donation as little as a dollar! Experience art, whenever you can.
Visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art
The museum has an amazing variety of works; be prepared to spend the day there!
This, of course, was my favorite section. It was so exciting to see all the pieces that I had been writing about in the flesh!
And yes, this is a painting.
Working for Artsnapper, I spend hours and hours looking through art each week online, and I love seeing what the internet has to offer. As amazing as it is to stare at art on a computer screen for hours on end, nothing is comparable to tangible art, right in front of your eyes; I can’t wait to start out creating prints, because I feel like that is the next level of accessible, tangible art. In the mean time, though, get thyself to a local museum! You won’t regret it, I promise.
