Hong Kong officially becomes an art hub as it hosts the first Art Basel Hong Kong. Art Basel is an art fair that has been showcasing modern and contemporary art since 1970. It is the premier art fair and until now only had been held in Switzerland and in the United States.
The surge in Honk Kong’s international art market is largely due to the explosion of personal wealth in China. The works showcased by the art galleries include works by Britain’s Damien Hirst, French artist JR and the German photographer Andreas Gursky. But there is also a large emphasize of artworks from Asian artists.
We have compiled a few photos of some of amazing artwork showcased at Art Basel Hong Kong for your enjoyment. Please take a look at the images below and please share you thoughts about the art fair.
